What Kukui sells
Kukui calls itself “the marketing platform built specifically for auto repair shops.” It says it has 15 years in the industry and that over 2,200 shops use it. Its plans page lists four plans: Websites, Marketing, Core and Complete.
Websites is a branded site with SEO, tracking phone numbers, review display and a QR code generator. Marketing is the CRM side: a connection to your shop software, a customer database, email templates, retention campaigns and follow-up automation. Core includes both, plus two-way texting, text marketing, live web chat, the Live Scheduler for online booking, a loyalty program, an AI review responder and a dedicated Client Success Coordinator. Complete adds social media management, Yext listing consistency and AI Call Insights.
What it costs
The plans page lists Kukui Websites at $399 a month and Kukui Marketing at $399 a month when bought on their own, and Complete from $719 a month. Core has no price on the page. The FAQ says “Plans are on a 12-month agreement,” so $399 a month comes to $4,788 for the year, and Complete starts at $8,628.
Add-ons: a POS integration on the Websites plan is $149 a month. Google, Local Services and Microsoft Ads management is 20% of ad spend. Postcards are priced per piece, and digital vehicle inspections are quoted on request. Kukui’s separate pricing page still says “Sit in on our demo to see the platform and get pricing,” and customers on older Pro and Pro+ packages are told to ask their coordinator.
Sapt is $297 a month flat: no setup fee, no contract, and we refund your payment if it isn’t worth it to you in the first 30 days. Ad spend is separate.
What Kukui’s terms say
Kukui’s terms and conditions set the term in your order form and say the agreement “shall automatically renew as long as Kukui provides Services to Client.” Payment obligations are “non-cancelable and fees paid are non-refundable, even if Client stops using a Service,” and “There are no refunds for contracted Services for any reason.” The public terms don’t describe how a shop gives notice to end the agreement, so ask before you sign.
On the website, the terms keep “website graphics, design, source code” as Kukui’s intellectual property. You keep the copyright on your own writing and photos, and Kukui keeps “a small logo and link on the footer of the website.” The terms don’t mention domain names. After the agreement ends, your customer data can be exported for 30 days, then it is deleted.
Two more clauses to know. If you keep using Kukui’s services after the agreement ends, the terms set a “Post-Termination Fee” of your highest monthly fee in the prior 12 months, times twelve. And they put the average time to launch at sixty days from the contract date.
Whichever vendor you choose, get in writing what happens to your site, your domain and your data if you leave.
Where Sapt is different
Missed calls. Sapt gives you a number for your Google listing and website that rings your shop first. If nobody picks up, the caller gets a text from your shop right away. We found no missed-call text-back in Kukui’s public pages. Kukui records and reports calls to its tracking numbers, and Complete scores them with AI. See how missed-call text-back works.
Someone answers. Sapt’s AI front desk answers the customer’s questions by text and offers real openings. With a supported calendar connected it books the accepted time, and you get a text with the details. Questions it can’t answer come to you. Kukui’s Live Scheduler lets customers book online, and its live web chat is answered by your team from the control panel or app.
Done for you, month to month. We build your website from your Google listing (hours, services, photos and reviews) on your own domain. We check and fix your listing’s hours, services, photos and phone, and each month you get a report of where you show up on Google Maps. See the website guide and the Google Business Profile guide.
One shop per area. We don’t take on the shop down the street. We found no area exclusivity in Kukui’s public pages.
Where Kukui is stronger
It covers more ground. One vendor handles the website, SEO, CRM, texting, online booking, a loyalty program, postcards, inspections, social media and paid search. Kukui says it is a Google Premier Partner, and it manages Google, Local Services and Microsoft Ads for 20% of ad spend.
Call data. AI Call Insights transcribes and scores every recorded call against five best-practice categories and gives each caller a Lead Viability Score from 1 to 100. The CRM also shows your answer rate by hour and day. If coaching the front counter is the goal, that is a real strength.
It runs on your shop data. With a POS connection, review requests go out when a repair is concluded, and retention campaigns run from your customer history. Sapt’s declined-work texts work from an export of your shop software. Kukui also syncs appointments both ways with Tekmetric.
People. Core and Complete include a dedicated Client Success Coordinator and a monthly results review meeting, and multi-location shops can get an Enterprise plan with a dedicated account team.
Your shop software
Kukui connects to shop software through its POS integration, included from the Marketing plan up. We didn’t find a full list of supported systems in its public pages, so ask about yours.
Sapt keeps your shop software. Shopmonkey appointment booking is live. Tekmetric, Torque360 and ARI integrations are in progress, and until they’re live the assistant takes the request and your advisor confirms the time. We agree that handoff with you first, and our team handles setup and testing. See the software integration guide, or Sapt vs Tekmetric Marketing if you’re weighing Tekmetric’s own add-on.
