Choose Podium if

  • You want texting, reviews, payments and a phone system in one inbox your team runs.
  • You want review invites triggered from Shopmonkey or Tekmetric without anyone tapping a button.
  • You want an AI that picks up the phone by voice, not only by text.
  • You run several locations and want one platform with multi-location tools.

Choose Sapt if

  • You don’t want a 12-month agreement that renews on its own.
  • Missed calls are where you lose jobs, and you want each caller texted and booked without buying a phone system.
  • You want your website and Google listing handled for you, not another tool to run.
  • You want to be the only shop in your area we work with.

Who Podium is built for now

Podium sells one platform for texting, reviews, website chat, phones, payments and an AI assistant it calls the AI Employee. The industries in its site menu are Auto Dealerships, Home Services, Aesthetics and Retail.

Its automotive site, automotive.podium.com, says “Podium is AI for car dealerships.” A Podium article from October 23, 2026 says it documents direct appointment booking into Xtime or Tekion, which are dealer systems. It adds that an independent shop on another system “should verify compatibility before planning on direct booking.”

Podium still lists integrations for independent shop software: Tekmetric, Shopmonkey and Shop-Ware. More on those below.

What it costs

Podium’s pricing page lists Core at $399 a month and Pro at $599 a month. Signature is custom. Every plan card has a “Talk to Sales” button, and the page notes that pricing “may vary based on industry, partnerships, integrations, volume, and carrier fees.”

Some parts cost extra. Podium Phones, where the missed-call text lives, is $30 a user a month for one to four users or $25 for five or more, plus a $500 network optimization fee per location. Every US location pays a base 10DLC texting fee of $5 a month. The AI Employee is an add-on with no price on the page.

Sapt is $297 a month flat: no setup fee, no contract, and we refund your payment if it isn’t worth it to you in the first 30 days. Ad spend is separate.

Contract and renewal

Podium’s terms of service, version 7.0, effective October 15, 2026, say that unless your order form states otherwise, a subscription runs 12 months and renews automatically for the same length. To stop a renewal you send written notice at least 30 days before the term ends. Email to Podium support counts.

The same terms say you agree “to pay applicable fees for the entire Subscription Term,” that fees are non-refundable except in narrow cases, and that Podium can raise fees with 45 days’ notice, starting at your next term.

Some reviewers on the BBB report renewals they didn’t expect and a 5% increase at renewal. If you sign, read the order form and put the renewal date on your calendar.

Sapt has no contract to renew.

Where Sapt is different

Missed calls. Sapt gives you a number for your Google listing and website that rings your shop first. If nobody picks up, the caller gets a text from your shop right away. It’s part of the $297. Podium’s Missed Call Automation sits in Podium Phones, which is priced per user on top of the plan. See how missed-call text-back works.

Someone answers and books. Sapt’s AI front desk answers the customer’s questions by text and offers real openings. With a supported calendar connected it books the accepted time, and you get a text with the details. Questions it can’t answer come to you. Podium documents direct booking for dealer systems and tells independent shops to check compatibility first.

Done for you. We build your website from your Google listing, on your own domain, and keep your hours, services, photos and phone right on Google, with a monthly report of where you show up on Google Maps. Podium is software your staff runs, with onboarding and a customer success manager.

Where Podium is stronger

More connections. Podium lists 200+ integrations. Its Shopmonkey listing sends a review request by text when an order is paid, sends appointment reminders and imports contacts. Its Tekmetric listing sets up review invitations and contact import. Sapt sends the review text when you tap Job done. See how to get more Google reviews.

It answers the phone. Podium’s March 2026 release notes say its AI Employee, Jerry, “now handles and forwards incoming calls.” Sapt has no AI voice answering: calls ring your shop, and the AI front desk works by text.

It covers more of the counter. Podium offers payment requests and estimates by text, a phone system with call recording and transcripts, and can make your current landline textable. If you want one inbox for all of that, it’s a real advantage.

If your shop runs on Shopmonkey or Tekmetric

Sapt’s Shopmonkey appointment booking is live, and our team handles the connection and tests it with you. See the Shopmonkey guide.

Tekmetric, Torque360 and ARI integrations are in progress. Until they’re live, the assistant takes the request and your advisor confirms the time in your shop software. We agree that handoff with you before anything goes live. See the software integration guide.

If you keep Podium for payments or reviews and add Sapt, pick one system to send review requests so customers don’t get two.

Questions shop owners ask

Podium’s pricing page listed Core at $399 a month and Pro at $599 a month on October 25, 2026, with Signature priced by sales. Podium Phones, which includes missed-call texts, is $25 to $30 a user a month plus a $500 fee per location. The AI Employee is an add-on with no listed price.

Yes, by default. Podium’s terms say a subscription runs 12 months unless your order form says otherwise, renews automatically, and needs written notice at least 30 days before the term ends to stop. If you leave early, the fees for the full term are still owed.

For an independent shop that loses jobs to missed calls, Sapt is $297 a month flat with no contract. It texts back missed callers, answers and books by text, and runs your website and Google listing. If you need voice AI, payments or a phone system, Podium covers more.

Yes, mainly for reviews. Podium’s marketplace lists a Shopmonkey integration that sends review requests when an order is paid, sends appointment reminders and imports contacts, and a Tekmetric integration for review invitations and contact import. Neither listing mentions booking.

Yes. Missed Call Automation texts the caller when a call is missed. It is part of Podium Phones, which is priced per user on top of a Core or Pro plan. Sapt includes missed-call text-back in its $297.

No. Sapt rings your shop first, and if nobody picks up, the caller gets a text right away. The AI front desk answers and books by text. Podium’s AI Employee add-on handles incoming calls by voice.
